Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Found in woodlands, forest edges, parks, large gardens, and semi-open landscapes with scattered trees, ranging from sea level to mountain forests up to 2,000 meters elevation.

Ecological Role

Key seed disperser for berry-producing plants, insect population control, and an important indicator species for forest and woodland ecosystem health.
