Ecology & Habitat

Habitat

Subtropical forest ecosystems in mountainous regions of Southern Ryukyu Islands and northwestern Taiwan, typically at elevations between 100-800 meters, preferring humid environments with dense vegetation and proximity to streams.

Ecological Role

Plays a critical role in forest ecosystem dynamics as a small insectivorous amphibian, controlling insect populations and serving as prey for larger predators in its habitat.

  • SKIN COAT Smooth, moist skin with potential camouflage coloration matching forest substrate
  • LIMBS WINGS Well-developed toe pads for climbing, specialized for gripping vegetation and tree surfaces
  • HEAD SENSORY Large eyes with excellent night vision, typical rhacophorid head structure with pronounced tympanum for sound perception
  • BODY STRUCTURE Small-sized tree frog, estimated body length 30-40 mm, slender and lightweight adaptation for arboreal locomotion
